James E. Hoffman

James E. "Jake" Hoffman, 21, died unexpectedly on Monday, January 21, 2013 in Amherst, MA after being caught in a house fire. He was the beloved son of David M. and Anne (Morrissey) Hoffman of Stoughton. Born in Stoughton, he was raised and educated in Stoughton and was a graduate of Stoughton High School, Class of 2009. While at Stoughton High, he was a member of the Soccer Team and was elected Captain his senior year. Jake was a Senior at University of Massachusetts at Amherst at the time of his death. While at UMass, he was a member of MESIBA Team, the Club Managers Association of America and was the Vice President of the Jewish Student Union. An avid sports fan, he was a kind and caring man who in his free time enjoyed fundraising for different foundations and donating his time to anyone who needed it.

In addition to his parents, Jake is survived by his sister Nichole C. Hoffman and his brother Riordan J. A. Hoffman both of Stoughton. He was the grandson of Dorothy (Hannaway) Hoffman of Stoughton and the late Edward Hoffman, James J. Morrissey and Bernice (Hill) Morrissey. He was the great grandson of Edward C. Hoffman of Canton. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral Mass will be held in the St. James Church, 560 Page St., Stoughton, on Saturday, January 26 at 10 AM. Visiting Hours will be held in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) Stoughton on Friday from 3-7 PM. Interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton. Donations in his memory may be made to the James "Jake" Hoffman Memorial Fund, PO Box 93, Stoughton, MA 02072.
