James R. Greene

James R. Greene, Sr., 94, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died peacefully on Thursday, February 6, 2014 at the Milford Regional Medical Center in Milford after a short period of failing health. He was the husband of 59 years of the late Elizabeth A. "Betty" (Falkingham) Greene. He was born, raised and educated in Dorchester. He was a Sergeant in the U.S. Army and was a Veteran of World War II. Mr. Greene was a resident of Bellingham for the past 3 years, previously living in Stoughton for over 30 years. Jim worked as a draftsman for Allis Chalmers and Siemens in Hyde Park for over 30 years, retiring in 1975. He was a lifetime member of the VFW in Dedham. In his free time, he enjoyed woodworking, playing golf, walking and playing cards. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and family.

Mr. Greene is survived by his children, Susan E. Greene of Bellingham, J. Russell Greene, Jr. of Easton and Lawrence A. Greene of Plainville. He was the grandfather of Brian Greene, Brandon Greene and Megan Greene. He was the brother of the late George, Edward, Margaret, Daniel and William Greene, Mary Camerlin and Virginia Deary. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) Stoughton on Tuesday, February 11 at 9:15 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10:30 AM. Visiting Hours Monday from 5-8 PM. Interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton. Donations in Jim's memory may be made to the St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
