James "Gary" Fritzson

James “Gary” Fritzson, 78, died on Thursday, December 14, 2023, surrounded by his family at the VA Hospital in Brockton after a courageous battle with cancer.  Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was raised and educated in the Philadelphia area and was a graduate of Radnor High School in Radnor, PA. He later attended Mercersburg Academy in Pennsylvania and Boston University. An accomplished athlete, while at BU he was a member of the football and basketball teams. After graduating from BU, he entered the US Navy honorably serving from 1968-1970.  In 1992 he married Phan S. Seang, and together they raised their two beloved children in Sharon, where he has been a resident for the past 26 years. Gary worked as a Computer Programmer for Putnam Investments for many years and later, after his retirement, worked as a Substitute Teacher in the Stoughton Public Schools for 8 years. Gary enjoyed walking and spending time outdoors, reading, watching movies and true crime shows. He was an avid sports fan and loved attending local sporting events and was also a regular at Dunkin Donuts and Panera Bread in Stoughton, enjoying his daily interactions with the staff and the patrons.  Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and his friends. 

In addition to his wife Phan S. Fritzson of Sharon, he is survived by his daughter, Anne Fritzson of Boulder, CO, and his son, James P. Fritzson of Mansfield. He was the brother of Betsy Lodge of NH, Carol Fischer of PA, and the late Charles Fritzson.  He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and his granddog Trigger. 

Visiting Hours will be held in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Thursday, December 21, 2023 from 10AM-12PM, with Funeral Services to follow at 12PM. Interment will take place at Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Gary's memory may be made to a local charity of your choice.
