James E. "Jimmy" Benjamin, 58, died Tuesday, October 30 at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston after a long illness. Born in Burlington, VT, he was raised in Stoughton and a graduate of Stoughton Schools, Class of 1967. Mr. Benjamin was also a graduate of Wentworth Institute in Boston. He was a resident of Norton for over 18 years. Mr. Benjamin worked as a Mechanic at C. Spirito Inc. in Weymouth for over 20 years. Previously, he owned Jim's Getty in Stoughton for several years. A handyman, in his free time, he enjoyed fishing, racing cars and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his daughter Lauren Benjamin of Norton, his father, James E. Benjamin of Maine, his longtime friend Cynthia A. Kelly of West Roxbury and his sister Mary Benjamin. He was predeceased by his mother Helen (Hamm) Benjamin. He is also survived by his stepmother, Janice Benjamin of Maine, 3 stepsisters, a stepbrother and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Prayers will be held in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Saturday, November 3, at 10 AM. Visiting Hours Friday 5-8 PM. Interment will be at Timothy Plain Cemetery, Norton. Donations in Jim's memory may be made to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, 330 Brookline Ave., Boston, 02215.
