Jack "Jocko" Lazarus, 83, died Saturday, May 12, 2007 at the Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton after a period of failing health. He was the beloved husband of Judith (Baron) Lazarus. Born in Boston, he was raised in the West End and a graduate of Boston Schools. Mr. Lazarus was a WWII Veteran of the US Navy. He worked as a Coat Cutter for Cable Rainwear in Boston for many years. He also worked as a counter man at various area delis for several years. In his free time, he enjoyed sports, bowling, greyhound racing and thoroughbred racing.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Pamela Lazarus Wolf and her companion Jerry Blochner of W. Roxbury and Richard Lazarus and his wife Loretta of GA. He was the cherished grandfather of Christopher Lazarus. He was the brother of Joy Ernest of Canton and the brother in law of Vicki and Michael Murphy of NC. He was predeceased by his parents Samuel and Anna Lazarus. Jocko is also survived by his dear friends, Eliot and Rita Cohen, Paul and Terri Valenti, Richard "Chico" and Patricia Petti, Dennis and Marcia Blau, Charles Keone and his "bestest" friend Shadow. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and many other friends and family not mentioned. A gentle soul, His charm and wit will be long remembered.
Graveside services will be held at Sharon Memorial Park, Canton St., Sharon on Monday at 1:45 PM. Following services family and friends are invited to the home of Judith Lazarus. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Old Colony Elderly Services, POB 4469, Brockton, MA 02032.
