Ivan W. Wikstrom, 88, a resident of Bridgewater, died peacefully at Life Care Center of Raynham on Sunday, March 17, 2019. He was the husband of Irene (Flaherty) Wikstrom for 66 years. Son of the late Ivan I. and Sarah J. (Goss) Wikstrom, he was born in Boston and raised in East Boston. Ivan was a graduate of Don Bosco Technical High School in Boston. He was a Sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps and a Veteran of the Korean Conflict. Ivan was a resident of Bridgewater since 2004 after living in Stoughton for over 35 years. He was an Engineer for Boston Edison for over 35 years before retiring in 1995. He organized many events for the March of Dimes in conjunction with Boston Edison. He also worked as a self-employed electrician. Mr. Wikstrom enjoyed camping at Kezar Lake in Maine and spending winters in Bradenton, FL. He was a member of the Edison Employees Club. He enjoyed woodworking and playing golf but his greatest joy was spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, Ivan is survived by his children, Karen A. White and her husband Daniel of Marshfield, Nancy J. Wikstrom of Bridgewater, Diane M. Bielski and her husband Gregory of Easton, William I. Wikstrom and his wife Janette of New Jersey and Stacey A. Gray and her husband Richard of Berkley. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rte. 27), Stoughton on Friday, March 22 at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at St. James Church, Stoughton at 10 AM. Visiting Hours Thursday from 4-7 PM. Interment will take place at Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton.
