Isabel (Rodrigues) Gouveia, 94, died at the Guardian Center in Brockton on Friday, April 4 following a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Anthony Gouveia, daughter of the late Manuel and Isabelle (Ponte) Rodrigues. Born November 16, 1913 in Madeira Island, Portugal, she came to the U.S. as a baby at 3 months old. She lived in East Taunton and attended school there. She then moved to Stoughton where she lived for 80 years. She worked at the J.W. Wood factory for many years. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and the Stoughton Golden Agers.
Mrs. Gouveia is survived by 3 sons, Nelson of Easton, Kenneth of Waltham and Ronald of Stoughton and 1 daughter, Eileen Hobson of Fairhaven; her sister Mary Rodrigues of Stoughton, 9 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Georgianna Rodrigues and Beatrice Bolonis and 2 brothers, John and Manuel Rodrigues.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Monday, April 7 at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10:30 AM. Visiting Hours Sunday 2-5 PM. Burial will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Stoughton.
