Isabel R. (Romeiro) Avelar, 69, died Saturday, September 8, 2018, at the Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, surrounded by her beloved family. She was the wife of 50 years to Francisco M. Avelar. Born on the island of Terceira in the Azores, she was raised and educated in Terceira. She came to the United States fifty years ago and settled in Stoughton. Mrs. Avelar worked as an assembler for Analog Devices and Entronics in Norwood for many years and retired over 5 years ago. She was a fan of the Sporting Football Club and enjoyed spending time in her home. In her free time, she enjoyed spending time with her family and her grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Isabel is survived by her children; Eduardo R. Avelar and his wife Traci of Taunton, Francisco J. Avelar and his wife Jean of Avon and Sonia A. Munroe and her husband Kenneth of W. Bridgewater. She was the sister of Eduardo Romeiro and Maria Marques both of Stoughton. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren several nieces and nephews.
Visiting Hours will be held in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Wednesday, September 12, from 9-11 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, at 11:30 AM. Interment will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Stoughton.
