Irene was born and raised in Dedham, MA. She was educated in the Dedham Public Schools. She was a dedicated wife to Domenic and Mother first and foremost. She treasured her family and embraced every moment with them. She especially loved her role as Nana. She also enjoyed knitting and crocheting, reading a good novel and growing vegetables in her amazing and prolific gardens.
She was the loving spouse of Domenic J. Vatalero (deceased in 2014) and devoted mother of Ruth Brophy (husband David deceased) of Miami, FL; Domenic J. Vatalero, Jr. (wife Dianne) of Georgetown, MA; Linda J. Marchione (husband Robert) of Cape Coral, FL.; and Patricia Vatalero (fiancé Gary O'Grady) of Easton, MA. She was the grandmother of Lisa M. Clark (husband Keith) of Rehoboth, MA, Wendy Gordon of Austin, TX and Daniel Brophy of Bonita Springs, FL. Also, the dear sister of Dorothy Dodero (recently deceased) of Brockton, MA.
Irene was an active member of the Stoughton Senior Center and appreciated the ability to socialize and exercise with her many friends at the Center. These friends held a very special place in her heart. She lived a full life as a wonderful spouse, mother, homemaker, school volunteer and worker in the retail sector.
If you wish to honor her legacy via a donation, please consider a donation to the Brigham and Women's Faulkner Hospital - Breast Cancer Center, Jamaica Plain, MA. Irene was a breast cancer survivor and they cared for her at this center.
