Irene M. (Simoes) Belmonte, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died peacefully at Milton Hospital on her 80th birthday, Sunday, October 27, 2019. Daughter of the late Manuel and Angelina (Giamansi) Simoes, she was born in Boston and raised in Hyde Park. She was a graduate of Hyde Park High School and a resident of Stoughton for over 30 years. Irene pursued her love of fine diamonds selling jewelry for over 40 years until retiring in 2012 from Burchell's Jewelry in Canton. She was a founding member of the Stitch & Bitch Club and the "chic" 4-Seasons with Marie, Charlene and Dot. She loved dancing, eating and preparing Italian Cuisine, but her greatest joy of all was spending time with her grandchildren, her family and her girlfriends.
Irene is survived by her sons, Louis R. Belmonte, Jr. and his wife Lisa of Lexington, Anthony S. Belmonte of Bridgewater and David M. Belmonte and his wife Jill of Stoughton, as well as her grandchildren, Dominic, Kaleigh, Colin, Nicholas, Isabel, AJ and Danika Belmonte and Lauren Coyne. She is also survived by her godsons, Peter Niosi of Quincy and Ronald Powell of Easton, and many nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of Mary Barron of Readville, Rose Powell of Hyde Park, Manuel Simoes, Jr. and Linda Cofran both of Stoughton, Louise Kornmuller of Norwood, Catherine Cofran of Yarmouth and her late brothers, John, Richard, Robert and Anthony Simoes and her late sister, Patricia Kudryk.
Funeral Prayers will be offered in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rte. 27) Stoughton on Saturday, November 30 at 11 AM. Visiting Hours prior from 9-11 AM.
