Ingeborg M. (Kein) Smith, 86, died September 25, 2012 at the New England Sinai Hospital in Stoughton after a long illness. She was the wife of the late Lee Smith Jr. and the longtime companion and fiancé of Thomas Danilchuk. Born in Brunne, Germany, she was raised and educated in Germany. She moved to the United States in 1951 and settled in Boston where she lived for several years. She was a resident of Stoughton since 1967. She worked as an Administrative Assistant for Channing Lab at Harvard Medical School in Boston for over 30 years, retiring in 1991. She was a member of the Harvard University Retirees Association and the Stoughton Republican Town Committee, serving as the secretary. She was also an active member of the First Congregational Church in Stoughton for many years, serving in their Women's Group and in the Choir. In her free time, she enjoyed walking, bowling and gardening.
She is survived by her children, Hans Kein of Georgia, Lee Smith III of VA and Loreen Potvin of FL. She was the sister of Gisela Shephard of FL, Paul Kein of Germany and the late Annemarie O'Connor. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Saturday at 11 AM. Visiting Hours Friday from 4-7 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in Inge's memory may be made to the charity of one's choice.
