Ilene Delores (Burch) Simms, 67, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died peacefully at Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton on Wednesday, November 22, 2017. She was born to the late Willie and Cora (Graham) Burch and raised in South Carolina. She graduated from Wilberforce University in Ohio with a degree in social work and worked in the field for more than 30 years before retiring.
Ilene married her college sweetheart Lewis R. Simms of New York in 1973 and the couple had two children. She was a devoted mother to her twin daughters and an avid reader instilling that same love of books into her daughters.
In addition to her husband, Ilene is survived by her twin daughters, Latisha Simms and Gail Simms. She was the sister of Jean B. Jackson, Lester Burch and Essie B. (Melvin) Smith and the late Cora Ann Major all of South Carolina. She is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She will be deeply missed by her friends, family, and all who knew her.
Funeral Service will be held at the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27), Stoughton on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at 10 AM. Visiting Hours will be held on Friday, December 1, 2017 between the hours of 4 and 7 p.m. Interment will be private. Flowers and condolences may be offered at 222 Buckley Road, Stoughton, MA 02072.
