Hugh A. MacDonnell, 91, of Stoughton and formerly of Bourne & Newton, died at the Good Samaritan Medical Center, Friday June 3, 2011. He was the husband of the late Emma (MacNeil) MacDonnell. He was born and educated in Canada. He was a carpenter and cabinet maker. Mr. MacDonnell enjoyed gardening, dancing, playing the bagpipes and taking trips to Foxwoods. He was a member of the Hiberian Club of Watertown and the Canadian American Club of Watertown. In his free time Mr. MacDonnell enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren & great grandson.
Mr. MacDonnell is survived by his children : Maggie Nunes and her husband John of Berkley, Paula Lester and her husband John of FL, Hugh G. and his wife Marian of Stoughton, Jean Rimmer and her husband Stephen of Carver, Laura Ames and her husband Christopher of Stoughton and John and his wife Jean of Cohasset. Also survived by his sister Nin Campbell of Canada. He was the loving grandfather of Leslie Baker and her husband Tim, David Lorden, Gillian Lordan and her fianc Jonathan Chick, Jameson MacDonnell, Marisa MacDonnell, Erica Ames, Drew Ames, Sydney Rimmer, Merideth Roche and Paige Roche and the great grandfather of Jonathan Chick.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) Stoughton on Wednesday, June 8 at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10:30 AM. Visiting hours 9-10 AM at Farley Funeral Home prior to Mass. Burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton. Donations in Hugh's memory may be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701
