Herbert K. "Gus" Gustafson, 80, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died at home on Wednesday, February 6. Son of the late Karl and Alva (Anderson) Gustafson, he was born in Boston and graduated from Boston English High School and attended Boston University. He was a resident of Stoughton for over 45 years. Mr. Gustafson served in the U.S. Navy and was a Veteran of the Korean War. He was an insurance agent in Everett for many years. Gus also was a bartender at the Thunderbird Lounge and Porter Street Pub both in Stoughton for 20 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 89 in Stoughton, as well as Terban Health and Fitness Club and the YMCA both in Stoughton.
Mr. Gustafson was the father of Susan H. Gustafson of Stoughton and the late Karl R. Gustafson and the grandfather of Nicholas and Foxx-Michael Moore of Stoughton. He was the friend and companion of Bette Meier of Stoughton. He was the brother of Harold "Pete" Gustafson of Hyde Park, Viola Morse and her husband Richard of Carver and the late Lennart, William, Vincent, Russell and Stanley Gustafson.
Graveside Service will be held at The Gardens at Gethsemane, 670 Baker St., West Roxbury on Thursday, February 21 at 11 AM. Visiting Hours omitted. In lieu of flowers and donations, prayers would be appreciated. Arrangements by Farley Funeral Home,
