Henry John "Hank" Herbowy

Henry John “Hank” Herbowy, 88, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died peacefully at the Ruth McLain Hospice Home in Braintree on Tuesday, June 13, 2023. He was the loving husband of Gloria M. (Shields) Herbowy for 65 years. Born in Utica, NY, he was the son of the late Michael and Bertha (Wawrzyk) Herbowy. He was raised in Utica and Pittsfield, MA and attended Pittsfield High School before enlisting in the U.S. Marine Corps. Hank was a Sergeant in the Marine Corps and served during both the Korean War and Vietnam Era. He was a proud Marine ever since serving.  He resided in Stoughton for 65 years. He was an inspector at Northrop Grumman in Norwood for 38 years before retiring at age 62.

Hank was a member of both the American Legion Post 89 in Stoughton and Post 24 in Canton as well as the VFW Post 1645 in Stoughton and AMVETS Post 51 in Randolph. He was also a member of the Stoughton Lions Club, Stoughton Historical Society, Randolph Elks, Canton Men’s Club, Canton Veteran’s Club and Sharon Men’s Club. He enjoyed photography, daily coffee with friends at Beantown Diner and weekly Saturday breakfast with friends at Maxie’s Deli but his greatest joy was spending time with his family.

In addition to his wife, Hank was the father of John H. Herbowy and his wife Mary of Middleboro, Holly M. Herbowy Massoud and her husband Clifford of Fall River and the late Glen A. Herbowy and his surviving wife Mary of Timberlake, NC. He was also survived by 14 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 5 siblings.

Funeral Service will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Friday, June 16 at 11 AM.  Visiting Hours prior from 9-11 AM. Interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton.
