Henry J. Gusciora

Henry J. Gusciora, 88, died on July 25, 2006, after a long and lingering illness. He was the husband of 65 years of Jennie P. (Bielecki) Gusciora. Born in S. Boston, he attended South Boston Schools and was a 1936 graduate of the Mechanics Arts High School in Boston, MA. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy. For many years, he was employed as a draftsman and/or mechanical engineer by various defense contractors in the Boston area. He worked for many years as a Mechanical Engineer for the State of Massachusetts before retiring in 1983. He was a Registered Professional Engineer in Massachusetts and a former member of the Knights of Columbus and Toastmasters and formerly active in Cub Scouts.

Henry was a "Mr. Fix-it" of the family and the neighborhood. He was very much a self-made man, and he had many talents. He enjoyed spending time in his basement workshop, particularly with metal working. In the 1940s and 1950s, he designed four houses for the family; and with the help of his father and brothers, he built the houses from scratch. In later years, he became an artist, and his oil paintings of outdoor scenes had stunning details and vivid colors.

In addition to his wife Jennie, Mr. Gusciora is survived by his three sons: Robert H. and his wife Dianne of Canandaigua, NY; Kenneth H. and his wife Toby of Pelham Manor, NY; and Paul H. and his wife Maia of San Rafael, CA. In addition, he leaves a sister, Mrs. Lidia Banuk of Weymouth. He was predeceased by four brothers: Stanley, Edward, Albin, and Joseph. He is also survived by five sisters-in-law Barbara Gusciora, Doris Gusciora, Jeannette Lazarovich, Jessie Gradzewicz, and Leona Chunis, three grandchildren: Alexander, Christopher, and Victoria and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Friday, July 28, at 8 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 9 AM. Visiting Hours Thursday 3-7 PM. Donations in Henry's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 311 Arsenal Street, Watertown, 02472 or to the Stoughton Visiting Nurses, 10 Pearl St., Stoughton, 02072.
