Helen L. Suddard, 71, died Friday, November 28, 2014 at the home of her son Michael, under the care of Old Colony Hospice, after a period of failing health. She was the longtime friend and partner of Sandra Mellett. Born and raised in Jamaica Plain, she was a graduate of Jamaica Plain High School, Class of 1961.She was a longtime resident of Abington. Ms. Suddard was a Proud Veteran of the United States Marine Corps. She worked as a Scheduling Coordinator for Welch Home Health Care in Norwell and Medical Personnel Pool in Boston for many years, retiring several years ago. She also worked as a private home health aide. In her free time, she enjoyed traveling to Foxwoods and playing poker with friends.
She is survived by her children, Michael J. Mellett and his wife Jean of E. Bridgewater, Kelly Curtain and her husband John of Halifax, Deborah Harrison and her husband Bruce of Chelsea, James P. Mellett of Whitman, Elaine Buzzell of Dedham and Lori Mellett of Abington. She was the sister of George Souther of Randolph, Kenneth Souther of Norwood, Harold Souther of Holbrook and the late Sheila Souther. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral prayers will be held in Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Wednesday at 10 AM. Visiting Hours Tuesday from 5-8 PM.
