Helen (Russ) Sharples, 92, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died peacefully at home on Monday, January 2 surrounded by her family and under the care of Old Colony Hospice and By Your Side Nursing Care. She was the wife of the late Elmer E. "Al" Sharples. Born in Boston, she was raised and educated in Hyde Park before moving to Stoughton 52 years ago. She was a homemaker. In her younger years, Mrs. Sharples enjoyed going to dances and Polish picnics with her friends and family. She also enjoyed going on senior trips with her husband and the Readville Seniors. She loved listening to Polish music and most of all spending time with her grandchildren and family.
Mrs. Sharples is survived by her children, James J. Sharples and his wife Debora of Stoughton and Barbara A. Hvoslef and her husband David of Mansfield. She was the grandmother of Jennifer Degen and her husband Brett of Foxboro, James J. Sharples, Jr. and Jillian Sharples both of Stoughton. She was the sister of the late Blanche, William, Charles and Chester Russ, Anne Larson and Mary Moraski. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
