Helen P. Lanigan, 90, a lifelong resident of Stoughton, died at the Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton on Friday, April 17. Daughter of the late Mathew and Nellie (Mahoney) Lanigan, she was born and raised in Stoughton and graduated from Stoughton High School, Class of 1937. Miss Lanigan was a telephone operator for N.E. Telephone for many years until her retirement in 1984. She was a member of the Stoughton Historical Society and the Telephone Pioneers. In her free time she enjoyed cooking, quilting and Cape Cod, especially the beach at Harwichport.
She was the aunt of Mary Ellen Mulligan and her husband James of Randolph and Jane W. Sheehan and her husband Michael of N. Easton. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Margaret Welch and Natalie Lanigan.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) Stoughton on Tuesday, April 21 at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10:30 AM. Visiting Hours Monday 4-8 PM. Burial will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Stoughton. Donations in Helen's name may be made to the Emmanuel House, 25 E. Nilsson St., Brockton, MA 02301.
