Helen M. (Kristiansen) Kimtis, 77, died at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston on Thursday, September 14 after a period of failing health. She was the wife of 54 years of Edward W. Kimtis. Born in Boston, she attended Wilmington and Boston schools before graduating from Abington High School. She also attended Fitchburg State College. Mrs. Kimtis was a resident of Stoughton since 1951. She was a Teacher of Cosmetology at Keefe Tech in Framingham for 15 years until retiring in 1993. She had previously taught at Brockton Beauty Academy for 15 years. Mrs. Kimtis was a member of the Massachusetts Teachers Association, the Stoughton Art Association and a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church in Stoughton. She was an educator, artist, gardener and caregiver. She also enjoyed traveling.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Kimtis is survived by her children, Marie G. Baker and her husband Andrew of Brockton, Edward J. Kimtis and his wife Amelia of NJ and David J. Kimtis and his wife Susan of Berkley. She was the sister of Richard Kristiansen and his wife Lois of Pocasset, Evelyn Sullivan and her husband James of PA and Marjorie Walsh and her late husband Frank of Roslindale. She was the grandmother of Sarah and Robert Baker, Justin and Conner Kimtis and Kevin, John, Christopher and Alexander Kimtis. She was the daughter of the late Jens and Isabella (Hinckley) Kristiansen. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Alice White, Dorothy Lewis and Helen Mackys-Kimtis and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Monday, September 18 at 10:30 AM. Visiting Hours Sunday 3-6 PM. Donations in Helen's name may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 109 Pleasant St., Stoughton, MA 02072. Burial will be private.
