Helen Mackys Kimtis, life long resident of Stoughton, passed away in San Antonio, Texas, on February 6, 2010 at the age of 85. She was the wife of the late Bronis Mackys and Joseph Kimtis. Born in Stoughton, she was a graduate of Stoughton Schools. Mrs. Kimtis worked for 15 years at Malcolm Parsons Insurance in Stoughton before retiring several years ago. Prior to that, many years ago during WWII, she worked in personnel at the Watertown Arsenal and also for the First Naval District in Boston. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Stoughton Woman's Club, First United Methodist Church and the Stoughton Council of Aging. She loved all animals, especially cats, and all her plants. In her free time, she loved to travel, to go for rides in her car and also to go out to lunch with her many friends.
She is survived by her step-children Robert J. Kimtis and his wife Susan of NY and Beverly Kimtis Purcell-Guerra and her husband Fernando of TX. She was the grandmother of Robert J. Kimtis, Jr. and his wife Leah, Karen Kimtis Hood, William Wells Purcell and his wife Tricia and Ashley Purcell Bolin and her husband Christopher. She was the great-grandmother of Robert Kimtis III, Cole Kimtis, Ethan & Payton Bolin, Alexander & Katherine Hood. In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Diane Lee Mackys and her parents, Jacob and Mary Chigas.
Funeral Services will be held in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27), Stoughton, on Saturday, February 13, at 10 AM. Visiting Hours Friday from 4-7 PM. Burial will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery in West Roxbury. The family extends its sincere appreciation to the staff at Brighton Gardens and Christus VNA Hospice and Palliative Care San Antonio. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Friends of Hospice San Antonio, P.O. Box 40487, San Antonio, Texas 78229 or to the charity of your choice.
