Helen H. (Lutted) Hansen

Helen H. (Lutted) Hansen, 100, died Tuesday, January 2, 2018, at the Copley at Stoughton Nursing Home, after a period of failing health. She was the wife of the late Edwin C. Hansen. Born and raised in Stoughton, she was a lifelong resident and a 1935 graduate of Stoughton High School. Mrs. Hansen was also a graduate of Bridgewater State College and earned her Master's Degree in Elementary School Administration from Boston University. Mrs. Hansen worked as a teacher and administrator for the Stoughton Schools for well over 40 years. She served as the Assistant Principal at the South School in Stoughton and in 1962 was named the first Principal at the Chemung School in Stoughton, a post she held until her retirement in 1989. Upon her retirement, in honor of her years of service, the school was renamed the Helen H. Hansen School. Mrs. Hansen was active in many civic events and sat on many Boards, but her longest Board served was as a Trustee at the Stoughton Library for over 45 years. She retired as a trustee at age 90. She was an active woman who celebrated her good health by playing tennis well into her 80's. Later, she enjoyed playing golf. Mrs. Hansen was an accomplished violinist. In her free time, she enjoyed spending time with her friends and family.

Mrs. Hansen was the mother of Rawley C. Hansen, DMD of Brockton and the late Edwin William Hansen. She was the sister of the late Barbara O'Donnell and the grandmother of Janel Pudelka, Jon Hansen, Kristin Hansen and Karin Hansen. She was the great grandmother of Madeline Pudelka, Benjamin Pudelka, Reagan Hansen and Taylor Hansen.

A Celebration of Helen's life will be held in the Helen H. Hansen School, 1800 Central St. (Rte. 27), Stoughton on Saturday, February 10 from 2-4 PM. Donations in Helen's memory may be made to the Stoughton Public Library, 529 Washington St., Stoughton, MA 02072.
