Helen (Der Garabedian) Chickering, 87, a longtime resident of Easton, died at Sunrise at Gardner Park in Peabody on Tuesday, June 9. She was the wife of the late Zavier "Chick" Chickering. Born and raised in Lowell, she was a graduate of Lowell High School. Mrs. Chickering was a resident of Easton for past 48 years. She was an "Avon Lady" for over 40 years before retiring in 2007. Mrs. Chickering was a former member of the Daughters of Vartan in Cambridge. Always active, she enjoyed cooking, baking, the Red Sox and spending time with her family.
Mrs. Chickering is survived by her children, Zavier "Chick" Chickering, Jr. and his wife Octavia Moniz of Marblehead and Lawrence A. Chickering and his wife Linda of CA, as well as her granddaughters, Anastasia and Olivia Chickering. She was the sister of the late Arthur Garabedian and Augustus Garabedian.
Visiting Hours will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) Stoughton on Friday, June 12 from 8:30-10:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Main St., N. Easton at 11 AM. Burial will take place at the VA National Cemetery, Bourne. Donations in Helen's name may be made to St. James Armenian Apostolic Church, 465 Mt. Auburn St., Watertown, MA 02472.
