Helen L. Benson

Helen L. (Tengren) Benson, 96, a longtime resident of Norwood, died at Maples Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Wrentham on Thursday, April 5. She was the wife of the late Arthur R. Benson. Born in Cambridge, she was a resident of Norwood for over 60 years. Mrs. Benson was a sales associate at Cummings in Norwood and Roslindale for over 40 years before retiring 26 years ago. Prior to that she worked for Allis Chalmers in Hyde Park for 8 years. She was a hard worker who was strong, smart, independent and loyal.

An avid outdoorswoman, Mrs. Benson enjoyed the ocean, swimming, boating and time in the sun. She enjoyed line-dancing with seniors and jitterbugging with her friend Peg. She also enjoyed Dunkin Donuts coffee with her friends. She loved animals and had 5 dogs and 4 cats. She enjoyed all sports and especially loved the Red Sox.

Mrs. Benson is survived by her goddaughter, Sandra Jennings of Stoughton. She was the loving friend of the late Agnes "Peg" Welch and Evelyn McKelligan. She is also survived by her dear friend Chris and many cousins in MN, IL and Sweden.

Funeral Service will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) Stoughton on Saturday, April 7 at 11 AM. Visiting Hours prior from 10-11 AM. Interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton. Donations in Helen's memory may be sent to the MSPCA, 350 S. Huntington Ave., Boston, MA 02130.
