Helen Francis (Shea) Balboni ,77, when the Lord took her home. She lived in Ft Lauderdale, FL with her husband Dante "Joe" Balboni. She died of complications from squamous cell cancer on the morning of May 23. Her family is so happy she is free at last, but sorely miss her.
Born in Roxbury, to Margaret Burns and Cornelius J. Shea, she was a 1949 graduate of Mission High School. She met her husband at the Hyannis Coffee House dances the summer of 1950, and they married in 1953. They raised their 5 children in Neponset, Brockton, and Milton.
As the children migrated to Florida, they too moved there in 1988. Son Michael says, "We always took the greatest road trips and vacations. My Dad loved to drive and my Mom loved to go. She inspired much of the beach vacations to the Cape, PEI, and Maine". "My love of the sea is inbred due to my parents love of the sea; I will always remember our early beach days together as a family." Daughter Teresa says, "Mum was always so agreeable to go anywhere; we canoed alligator-ridden creeks, hiked to Phantom Ranch in Grand Canyon, and scoured Cape Breton Island yard sailing".
Helen is survived by her loving husband Joe, daughters Teresa and her husband David of AK and Sandy of FL, and her sons James, John and Michael all of FL. She is also survived by her grandson Joshua Balboni of TN, her sister-in law Mary Dina Bethony, and brother-in-law William Chappelle, several cousins and nieces and nephews and her nurses Sharon Reynolds and Jamie Plastina of FL.
