Helder Soares Garcia

Helder Soares Garcia, 72, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died unexpectedly at home on Sunday, March 27, 2022. He was the husband of Maria Nazaré (Azevedo) Garcia for 39 years. Son of the late Jorge and Alice (Soares) Garcia, he was born and raised in Flores, Azores, Portugal before moving to Stoughton in 1980. Helder worked for Shaw Glass in Easton for many years before retiring 10 years ago. He was a longtime communicant of Immaculate Conception Church in Stoughton. He enjoyed gardening and watching Benfica games but his greatest joy was spending time with his family.

In addition to his wife, Helder is survived by his children, Diane A. Garcia of Brighton and Michael A. Garcia of North Smithfield, RI. He was the brother of Jose Garcia, Octavia Ricardo and Antonio Garcia all of Stoughton, Octavio Garcia of California and the late Lino Garcia. He was also preceded in death by his nephew, Jorge Garcia and is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Wednesday, March 30 from 9:30-11 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 11:30 AM. Interment will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Stoughton.
