Hedy (Schmid) O'Neil, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died peacefully on Tuesday, May 1 at the age of 83. Born in Vienna, Austria to Leopold and Louisa Schmid, she was educated in Austria before she came to the United States. Hedy had been employed by the New York Supply Company in Boston for many years before her retirement. She was an avid Boston Red Sox fan, loved to read and enjoyed a good Bingo game. She particularly enjoyed spending time with her family members and vacationing in Marco Island, FL. She will be deeply missed by her family, relatives and many friends.
She is survived by her 4 daughters and 2 sons, Mary H. Crisafulli and her husband Dick of Marshfield, Kathleen A. Mullen and her husband Paul of Quincy, Margaret "Peggy" O'Neil of Avon, Patricia Palizzolo of Iowa, formerly of Avon, Paul E. O'Neil of Quincy and Lawrence T. O'Neil of Stoughton. Hedy had 10 grandchildren; Anthony, Ben, Patrick, Tim, Eddie, Ryan, Joseph, Nicolas, Kerri Lee and Jeremy, along with 3 great grandchildren, Lilly, Gavin and Liam. She was the sister of the late Walter Schmid and former wife of the late Paul E. O'Neil.
Visiting Hours will be held in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) Stoughton on Saturday, May 5 from 9-11 AM followed by a Funeral Services at 11AM. Interment will be private. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Massachusetts Hospital School Recreation Program, 3 Randolph St., Canton, MA 02021.
