Harold A. Sprague, Jr., 86, a lifelong resident of Stoughton, died Tuesday, February 2 at the Copley at Stoughton Nursing Home after a period of failing health. He was the husband of 65 years of the late Myrtle (Gainey) Sprague. Born in Stoughton, he was a graduate of Stoughton High School. Mr. Sprague was a Seaman 1st Class in the U.S. Coast Guard and a Veteran of World War II. He worked for the United States Postal Service in Stoughton for 32 years before retiring at age 54. He was a member of the American Legion Post 89 in Stoughton. In his free time, he enjoyed bowling, fishing traveling, playing the organ and the ocean.
Mr. Sprague is survived by his children: Deborah A. Moore of SC, Linda R. Petraitis of Stoughton, Harold L. Sprague and his wife Sylvia of Halifax, Doris J. Fisher and her husband Jack of Bridgewater and George A. Sprague and his wife Diane of Middleboro. He was the brother of Marilyn Peterson of Plympton. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) Stoughton on Friday Night, February 5 at 7:30 PM. Visiting Hours prior to service from 5-7:30 PM. Donations in Harold's memory may be made to Old Colony Hospice, 1 Credit Union Way, Randolph, MA 02368.
