Hanna (Richter) Mathur, 70, died peacefully, surrounded by her family and friends, Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at her home in Stoughton, after a long battle with cancer. She was married to and cherished by Rajendra "Raja" Mathur for 48 years. Born in Kellinghusen, Germany, she was raised and educated in Germany. She came to the United States in 1967 and settled in Syracuse, NY. In 1971, she moved to Sharon, where she raised her family and continued to live until moving to Stoughton in 2013. She finished her studies at the Brockton Hospital School of Nursing in Brockton. Mrs. Mathur worked as a Registered Nurse for many years at the Goddard Hospital in Stoughton, the Brockton Visiting Nurses Association and later at the Westwood Lodge in Westwood. She retired at age 65. In her free time, she enjoyed yoga and meditation, cooking, baking, reading, gardening, puzzles, decorating, knitting, listening to music, playing scrabble, hiking, drinking coffee, wine or pina coladas and, above all, spending time at the beach and spending time with her husband, daughters and her grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her three daughters; Angela Gallagher of Sharon, Seema Mathur of Upton and Meera Mathur of Belmont. She was the grandmother of Nick, Jake and Zack Gallagher and Clara and Riley Cooney. Mrs. Mathur was the sister of Jochen Hans Richter of PA, Peter Reinhard Richter and Thomas Richter both of Germany. She is survived by her devoted friend Barbara Williams and is also survived by her dog Cooper and her daughter's cats Whiskers, Lucy and Smokey.
Memorial Services will be held in the Unitarian Church of Sharon, 4 North Main Street, in Sharon Center on Saturday at 11 AM. Donations in Hanna's memory may be made to the Unitarian Chruch of Sharon, 4 N. Main St., Sharon, 02067.
