Gregory T. Goudas, 87, of Lakeville, died peacefully at the Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital, Saturday, October 9. He was the husband of the late Mary E. (Ellis) Goudas. Born in Boston, he was educated in Dorchester Schools and graduated from Boston Latin School. He was a resident of Hingham, Quincy and Stoughton before moving to Lakeville. He was a decorated WWII veteran who served for both the U.S. Army & U.S. Navy. For exemplary conduct in action against the enemy, Cpl. Goudas had been awarded the Combat Infantryman's Badge and two battle-stars for his Asiatic-Pacific theatre ribbon (for active participation in both the Guadalcanal and Bougainville campaigns). His unit was cited by the President of the United States for gallantry in action while re-inforcing the Marines at Guadalcanal. Cpl. Goudas was entitled to wear the distinguished Presidential Unit Citation bar. Mr. Goudas was a truck driver for the Hemingway Trucking Company in Woburn. He was a member of the AMVETS, Teamsters Local 25 & Harvey's Salt Water Fishing Club in Quincy. He was also a member & treasurer of the Evangelical Baptist Church in Sharon. Mr. Goudas was a wine enthusiast who in his free time enjoyed fishing, cooking & spending time with his family.
Mr. Goudas is survived by his children: Lisa M. Goudas of East Taunton, Gregory T. Goudas, Jr. of Boston and Lynn E. Goudas of East Taunton. Also survived by his grandchildren Amanda Goudas and Kyle Latta. Survived also by his sister Madeline Case of Dorchester. Predeceased by his siblings Nicholas, Basil, Christopher and Rita.
Funeral Service at the Evangelical Baptist Church, Sharon, MA, Thursday, October 14 at 11 AM. Visiting Hours Wednesday 5-8 PM from Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27), Stoughton. Burial will take place at Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton. Donations in his name may be made to the American Kidney Fund, 6110 Executive Blvd., Rockville, MD 20852.
