Gordon H. Hargreaves, 88, a lifelong resident of Stoughton, died peacefully at Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 after a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Marie J. (Mara) Hargreaves. Son of the late Ernest and Annie (Holden) Hargreaves, Gordon was a graduate of Stoughton High School, Class of 1946 and Bentley School of Accounting. He was a Petty Officer 1st Class in the U.S. Navy and a Veteran of the Korean Conflict. Gordon was an accountant for Stebbins & Stebbins in Boston for 20 years, Chemical Products in Providence, RI for 10 years and Michaelson Auctions for 10 years before retiring in 1991. He was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Brockton and the American Legion Post 89 in Stoughton. An animal lover and sports fan, he enjoyed gardening, reading, in particular British history, and vacationing in Nantucket with his wife.
Gordon is survived by his children, Linda M. Cannon and her husband William of Wareham, Thomas Hargreaves and his wife Susan and Pamela J. Bettle and her husband Brian all of Stoughton. He is also survived by his grandchildren, James Cannon, Jenna Cannon, Allison Hargreaves, Tucker Hargreaves, Brendan Hargreaves, Ryan Hargreaves, Courtney Hargreaves, Kristin Baker and Brian Bettle. He was the great-grandfather of Makayla, Tatum, Olivia, Dean, Grace, Grant and Haley.
Funeral Service will be held at St. Paul's Anglican Church, 701 Pleasant St., Brockton, MA on Monday, November 20 at 10 AM. Visiting Hours will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Sunday from 2-5. Interment will take place at Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton.
