Godfrey Earl "Ace" Jordan, 83, a longtime resident of Cambridge, passed away Monday, May 20, 2019, at the VA Hospital in Brockton, after a period of declining health. Born in Boston, he was raised in Dorchester and was a graduate of Boston Schools. Mr. Jordan was a former resident of Stoughton. He worked as an Offset Pressman for many years at the Smithsonian Institute in Boston, retiring from Mt. Auburn Hospital in Cambridge, after two decades. Ace was a longtime, well respected softball umpire, and a member of the Mass. Umpires Hall of Fame. He was the Past President and District Commissioner of the Metro Boston Umpires Association and was active in training novice umpires. He was a former member of the Electrons Bowling League in the Grove Hall Section of Dorchester, for a quarter of a century. He was also very active with area Drum & Bugle Corps, including the Matadors and St. Kevin's Emerald Knights.
Mr. Jordan was the father of Deene A. Jordan of Brockton, Danette M. Jordan and David E. Jordan, both of Stoughton and Darin G. Jordan and his wife Andrea A. Jordan of NC. He was the brother of the late Melvin Collins, Leroy Collins and Dorothy Lane. He was the grandfather of Jayson Thimas, Jenelle A. Jordan and Jonah D. Jordan. Ace is survived by his former wife Evelyn M. Jordan of Stoughton and numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visiting Hours will be held in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton, on Tuesday, May 28 from 4-7 PM. Funeral Services will be held the Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 29 at 11 AM. Interment will take place at Massachusetts National Cemetery on Thursday, May 30 at 10:45 AM.
