Gloria P. (Minichilli) Mazzaferro, 76, died Tuesday, December 29, at the Caritas Norwood Hospital in Norwood after a period of failing health. She was the loving wife of Gino O. Mazzaferro. Born in Boston, she was raised in South Boston and was a graduate of Cardinal Cushing High School. She was a resident of Sharon for many years. Mrs. Mazzaferro worked as a Secretary for the Superintendent of Schools in Sharon for over 25 years. She retired several years ago. Mrs. Mazzaferro was very active at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, as a member of the choir and the Women's Club. She was also a member of the Sons of Italy in Stoughton. In her free time, she enjoyed cooking, flowers and spending time with her family.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children: Rosemary Mazzaferro of Sharon, Diane M. Mazzanferro and her husband Bart Coyne of Roslindale and Annette M. Mazzaferro Mulligan and her husband Gary of FL, Gene M. and his wife Joan of Norton, Dr. Richard V. and his wife Andrea of Medfield. She was survived by her Foster Siblings Lillian Smith, Lucy Higgins, Sarah Dooner, Philip LaMarca, Joseph LaMarca and James LaMarca. She is also survived by her grandchildren; Anthony, Peter, Olivia, Sammy and Luke, as well as her dear friends Angie and Cal Alden of Sharon.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) Stoughton on Saturday, January 2, 2010 at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 59 Cottage St, Sharon, 02067 at 10 AM. Visiting Hours Friday 2-5 PM. Burial will take place at Rock Ridge Cemetery, Sharon. Donations in her memory may be made to the Our Lady of Sorrows at the above address.
