Gloria Ventresco (DiCastro) Goodman

Gloria Ventresco (DiCastro) Goodman, age 92, passed away peacefully on September 2, 2023 at the Life Care Center in West Bridgewater. Born on January 17, 1931, her father Augusto DiCastro from Rome, Italy immigrated to Stoughton and married her mother Mary DelSignore from Fort Edwards, NY, and later, Sulmona, Italy. She was raised and educated in Stoughton, graduating Class of 1949, and was very active in her class, where she was a class officer. She was a lifelong resident of Stoughton. In 1952, Gloria met Gino Ventresco and they later married and had 5 children. Gino passed away in 1976. Gloria then married Anthony Goodman and they enjoyed 40 years together before his passing in 2016. Gloria was very sweet, quick witted and strong willed. She kept busy doing crossword puzzles, bingo, playing cards, and playing slot machines with her friends. She loved to share stories of her childhood and the special traditions she and her family shared. She was active in the Daughters of Italy Women’s’ Group where she celebrated her Italian heritage. She loved when her entire family was together and enjoyed hosting and cooking for family gatherings, especially around the holidays. Gloria was famous for making the best pizzelles passing on her family traditions.

Gloria is survived by her children John Ventresco and his wife Yvonne of Easton, Diane Galano and her husband Kenneth of Wrentham, Donna Ireland and her husband Frank of Easton, Mark Ventresco and his wife Valerie of Wrentham and Gery Ventresco and his wife Sue of Stoughton. She was predeceased by her sister Eleanor DiCastro Louko, with whom she was inseparable with and lived next door to each other on DiCastro Lane all their married lives. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Tony DiCastro and Joe DiCastro. Gloria is also survived by her 15 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren who she loved dearly. She and her lifelong best friend Millie Gaultier Powers had a very special bond that will never be forgotten. She will be truly missed by all of those who loved her.

A Funeral Mass will be held at the Immaculate Conception Church in Stoughton, on Monday September 11th at 10:30 AM. Burial will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, donations in Gloria’s memory may be made to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 450 Brookline Avenue, Boston, MA 02215.
