Gina M. Assad, 56, died Sunday, May 18, at the Southwood at Norwell Nursing Home in Norwell after a period of failing health. She was the beloved wife of Michael A. Assad Sr. Born and raised in Stoughton, she was a graduate of Stoughton High School and also graduated from Quincy College. Mrs. Assad was the daughter of the late Adolph J. DiGangi and Janet M. (McLea) DiGangi. She was a resident of Stoughton for many years, before moving to Hanover in 2009. Mrs. Assad worked for Dr. Ann Glassman in Randolph as the Office Manager for over 6 years. In her free time, she enjoyed spending time at the beach, specifically Nantasket Beach, traveling to Hawaii and Bermuda and spending time with her family.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Jason P. Welch of Taunton and Jaime M. Welch of CA and her stepson Michael A. Assad, Jr. and his wife Karen of Mashpee. She was the sister of Richard "Butch" DiGangi of Easton, Ronald DiGangi and his wife Cindi of Braintree and Debbie Hurley of Brockton. She was the aunt of Kelly Cipullo and her husband Rick, Joseph DiGangi, Anthony DiGangi, Det. Sgt Mark Assad and his wife Mary (Boston PD) and Stephanie Hart and her husband John. She is also survived by 2 grandchildren.
Funeral Prayers will be offered in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Friday at10 AM. Visiting Hours will be held on Thursday from 5 to 8 PM.
