Gilberto F. Henriques, 71, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died at home on Monday, March 1 after a lengthy illness. He was the husband of Maria L. (Vieira) Henriques. Son of Maria F. Henriques of Stoughton and the late Francisco Henriques, he was born and raised in Flores, Azores, Portugal before moving to Stoughton 44 years ago. Mr. Henriques was a food preparer at Town Spa in Stoughton for 6 years before retiring 2 years ago. He previously worked for GPA Associates in Stoughton for several years. He was a member of Sao Joao Filharmonica Society and Club Luis de Camoes both in Stoughton. In his free time he enjoyed fishing, gardening and Benfica.
In addition to his wife and mother, Mr. Henriques was the father of Carlos A. Henriques and his wife Christine of Stoughton and the late James V. Henriques. He was the grandfather of Jaime C., Brianna J. and Matthew J. He is also survived by his brothers, Frank Henriques and his wife Victoria and Joe Henriques and his wife Maria all of Stoughton and Celestino Henriques of Portugal, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) Stoughton on Thursday, March 4 at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10:30 AM. Visiting Hours Wednesday 5-8 PM. Burial will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Stoughton. Donations in Gilberto's name may be made to American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
