Gil A. Valadao, 40, a lifelong resident of Stoughton, died suddenly at Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton on Thursday, March 26, 2015. He was the son of Jose R. and Maria A. (Alves) Valadao of Stoughton. Born and raised in Stoughton, he was a graduate of Stoughton High School and received his Associate Degree in Business Administration from Massasoit Community College. He was a customer service representative for the Emerson Swan Company in Braintree. Gil was a member of the Sociedade Filarmnica De So Joo in Stoughton, where he played the trumpet and percussions. A lover of music, he was a disc jockey and played in a band. He was an avid Boston sports fan and in particular a huge Larry Bird and Superman fan. Gil enjoyed playing basketball and shooting pool and was a member of the Stoughton Pool League. He loved Carnaval and was very proud of his Portuguese heritage. He was known to all as "Captain Festa."
In addition to his parents, Gil is survived by his brother, Joseph A. Valadao of Stoughton and his nephews, Liam R. Swanson-Valadao of Stoughton and Joseph A. Valadao-Casey, Jr. of Rutland. He was the grandson of the late Joo and Filomena (Resendes) Valadao and Francisco and Adelina (Silveira) Alves. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Funeral will be held from Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Tuesday, March 31 at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10:30 AM. Visiting Hours Monday from 4-8 PM. Interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton. In lieu of flowers, donations in Gil's name may be made to the Gil Valadao Burial Fund Account, c/o Stoughton Co-Operative Bank, 950 Park St., P.O. Box 446, Stoughton, MA 02072.
