Gertrude H. (Noel) Gillespie, 86, died at the Boston Medical Center on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 after a period of failing health. She was the wife of the late Francis E. Gillespie, Jr. Born in Dover, NH, she was raised in Somersworth, NH and Lynn and attended Lynn Schools. Mrs. Gillespie was a resident of Stoughton since 1956. She was a devoted homemaker and mother who also worked as a waitress at the Stoughton Diner for several years. She later worked for Barrows Fabrics, Codman Medical Devices and then at Stop & Shop in Stoughton until her retirement in 2000. In her free time, she enjoyed square dancing, taking cruises and, above all, spending time with her family.
Mrs. Gillespie is survived by her children; Francis E. Gillespie, III of Virginia, John A. Gillespie and William J. Gillespie both of Brockton, Mary A. Storm and Richard J. Gillespie both of Stoughton and Lorraine M. Gillespie of Brighton. She was the sister of Albert J. Noel, Jr. of New Jersey, Frances Richard, Lorraine M. Bernardi, and Patricia Jackson all of Lynn, Madeleine Galvin of Canada and Ronald Noel of Florida. Mrs. Gillespie was the sister-in-law of Bernard Gillespie, William Gillespie and Barbara Gillespie and is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Prayers will be offered in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Monday, December 5, at 7:30 PM. Visiting Hours will be prior to the prayers from 3:30-7:30 PM.
