Gerard M. "Jerry" Kenney, 82, died Monday, August 7, 2017 at his home in Attleboro after a long period of declining health. He was the Loving Husband of 62 years of Barbara "Dede" J. (Canty) Kenney. Born in Boston, he was raised and educated in Jamaica Plain and was a graduate of Our Lady of Lourdes High School in Boston. He also attended Bentley College. Mr. Kenney was a resident of Attleboro for the past 17 years, previously living Stoughton for over 29 years. He worked as a Firefighter and EMT for the Brookline Fire Department for many years, retiring 17 years ago. He was a member of the Professional Fire Fighters of Massachusetts and the International Association of Firefighters Local 950. Jerry enjoyed spending time hiking, camping and fishing and was a world traveler. His most memorable trips were to Hawaii and Alaska. He also enjoyed spending time at his vacation home in Pawley's Island, SC. He loved the ocean, food, dining out and all Boston Sports teams, especially the Red Sox and Patriots. He was known for his sense of humor and his unselfish and giving personality but his greatest treasure was his family.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Kenney is survived by his beloved children; Gerard M. Kenney, Jr., Deputy Chief Brockton Fire Dept. and his wife Lisa of Easton, David M. Kenney and is wife Reni of Attleboro, Kathleen A. Kenney of North Attleboro and Gregory S. Kenney and his wife Laura of Rockland. He was the brother of the late Ronald Kenney. Jerry was the grandfather of Stephanie Mayer, Brittany and Ryan Kenney, Antonio Klissarski and Tyler, Sheannon, Christopher and Ashley Kenney. He was the great grandfather of Peyton and Harper Mayer. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Friday, August 11, 2017 at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10 AM.
