Gerald E. Sousa

Gerald E. "Gerry" Sousa, 79, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died peacefully at Curahealth in Stoughton on Saturday, February 3, 2018. He was the husband of Theresa J. (Cucalon) Sousa for 27 years. Son of the late Vernon and Cecelia (Perry) Sousa, he was born in Boston and raised in Canton. He was a graduate of Canton High School. Gerry resided in Brockton for over 20 years and Foxboro for 5 years before living in Stoughton for 28 years. He was a barber at Wrentham State Hospital for 18 years before retiring in 1995. Gerry was the President of AFSCME while at Wrentham State Hospital. An avid sports fan, he was a member of Bay Pointe Golf Club in Wareham, but his greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends.

In addition to his wife, Gerry is survived by his children, Gerald Sousa of Stoughton, Kenneth Sousa of Bridgewater, Yvonne Sousa and Holly Sousa both of Boston, Cecelia Sousa of Georgia, Tracy Sousa of Arizona, Troy Sousa of Norwood, Samantha Sousa of Brockton, Christy Niethold of Quincy and Patrick Niethold of Rhode Island. He was the brother of the late Vernon and Francis Sousa. He is also survived by 21 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren and was preceded in death by 2 grandsons.

Family Reflections will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27), Stoughton on Friday, February 9 at 7 PM. Visiting Hours prior from 4-7 PM. Interment will be private.
