Gerald W. McShane, 89, died Monday, May 21, 2018, at the Copley at Stoughton Nursing Home in Stoughton. He was the husband of the late Mary M. (Creamer) McShane. Born in Boston, he was raised and educated in Roxbury and was a graduate of English High School. He also did coursework at Harvard University. Mr. McShane was a Veteran of the US Army during the Korean Era and was a Ranger. He was a resident of Stoughton for over 50 years. Jerry worked as a salesman for Boston Gas in West Roxbury for over 35 years and retired at age 60. He was a train buff who enjoyed playing golf in the Boston Gas Golf League and at Thorney Lea Golf Club. In his free time, he enjoyed reading mystery novels, cooking, antiquing and spending time with family and friends.
Jerry was the father of Paul J. McShane and his wife Denise of Stoughton. He was the step grandfather of Vanessa Coulson and her husband Philip and the brother of Robert McShane of Roslindale and the late Joseph McShane. He was the longtime companion of Nancy LaPlante.
Funeral Prayers will be offered in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Friday, May 25, at 9:30 AM. Visiting Hours Thursday from 5-8 PM. Interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton. Donations in Jerry's memory may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Donor Services, PO Box 98018, Washington DC 20090-8018.
