George J. Ramsey III, 54, a longtime resident of Avon, died peacefully Thursday, April 13, 2023, at the Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston. In his last days, George was surrounded by family and many friends reminiscing on beautiful memories. Born in Boston, son of the late George J. and Eleanor (O’Connor) Ramsey, he was raised and educated in Avon; before attending and graduating from Blue Hills Regional Technical High School in Canton, where he was a member of the hockey and soccer teams. George was a longtime, dedicated and highly respected employee of Sullivan & McLaughlin, “Sully Mac”, a company his father helped start. George was a General Foreman at SullyMac and was one of their longest tenured employees, a beloved co-worker, and a mentor to many.
When not working, George enjoyed working on his vintage cars. Aside from his 1968 GTO, the thing he was the proudest of was his family. He was a dedicated and loving father to his three children. Whether he was coaching them in hockey, being a role model, or just being a Dad, he cherished the time spent with them above all else.
George was the father of Bethany V. Ramsey, George J. Ramsey IV, and Madison R. Ramsey, all of Avon. He was the nephew of Paul and Kathleen (O’Connor) Devlin and brother of Kerri (Ramsey) Wiederhold and her husband, Willie Wiederhold. George was fortunate to call Willie a close friend, as well as brother-in-law. George was the loving uncle of Peter, Molly and Julie Wiederhold. He is also survived by his loyal companions, Kallen and Stanley.
Visiting Hours will be held in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Tuesday, April 18, 2023, from 4-7 PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Michael’s Church, 87 N. Main St., Avon, on Wednesday, April 19, 2023, at 10:30 AM. Interment will take place at St. Michael’s Cemetery, Avon.
