George R. Dolson, 88, a longtime resident of Randolph, died at his daughter's home in Stoughton surrounded by his family on Friday, December 18 after a period of failing health. He was the husband of the late Mary B. (Crowley) Dolson. Born and educated in Chicago, IL, he was a resident of Randolph since 1976. Mr. Dolson was a Sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps and a veteran of World War II, having fought at the Battle of Midway. He was an insurance salesman in the Randolph area for many years before retiring in 1987. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and was Past Grand Knight in Endicott, NY. Mr. Dolson volunteered for elderly services in Randolph and was a Eucharistic Minister at St. Michael's Church in Avon. He played semi-pro baseball and was drafted by the Chicago White Sox but chose the Marine Corps instead. In his free time he enjoyed playing golf.
Mr. Dolson was the father of Jo Pyeatt of WA, Judi Giesin of SC, Jan Wimmer of AK, Lydia Dolson of MI, Greg Dolson of OH, Barbara Francis of Stoughton and the late Robert Dolson. He was the brother of Florence Rybinski, Joseph Dolack, Rita Morrison and Lee Dolac. He was preceded in death by 4 siblings. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Michael's Church, 87 N. Main St., Avon on Monday, December 21 at 11 AM. Visiting Hours will be prior at Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) Stoughton from 9:15-10:15 AM. Burial will take place at Milton Cemetery.
