George T. Armstrong, 78, a longtime resident of Avon, died peacefully at home in Auburn, NH on Wednesday, December 26. He was the husband of the late M. Marie (McElaney) Armstrong. Born in Boston, he was raised in Dorchester and graduated from Dorchester High School. He was a resident of Auburn for 2 years after living in Avon for over 55 years. Mr. Armstrong was a Technician for Cryogenic Technology in Mansfield for 24 years before retiring 14 years ago. He was an avid Boston sports fan.
Mr. Armstrong is survived by his children, Michael E. Armstrong of Auburn, NH, Maureen E. Kean of Stoughton, Timothy J. Armstrong of Norfolk, Paul R. Armstrong of Syracuse, NY and Christine M. Bosco of Brockton. He was the brother of Robert W. Armstrong of TX and the late James R. and Richard L. Armstrong. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) Stoughton on Monday, December 31at 8:45 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Michael's Church, Avon at 10 AM. Visiting Hours Sunday from 1-4 PM. Interment will be private.
