Frederick M. Stanton, Jr., 81, longtime community leader and public servant, died October 30, 2013. He was the husband of the late Sandra C. (Allegro) Stanton. Born in Easton, he was raised in Stoughton and graduated as president of his class in 1951. Mr. Stanton earned his Bachelor's Degree from Northeastern University, Master's Degree from Bridgewater State College and completed graduate work at Tufts College of Medicine and Massachusetts General Hospital. He served in the US Army as a Communications Specialist from 1956-1958. Mr. Stanton was a resident of Brockton since 1960 and a respected member and Chair of the Brockton School Committee for many years. Mr. Stanton was a science teacher in the Stoughton School System where he earned many accolades including Who's Who in American Education and National Executive Educator before moving into administration where he served as the Assistant Principal at the Junior High School for many years. He ultimately finished his thirty-three year career in Stoughton as the Assistant Superintendent of Schools retiring in 1994. After his retirement, he worked as a Service Coordinator for Brockton Area Multi-Services, Inc. (BAMSI) for over 10 years. Throughout his life he was a member of numerous local and state boards and councils focused on education and charitable causes, including advisory councils at Good Samaritan Medical Center, Massachusetts Department of Education, BAMSI, and Brockton Public Schools. In his free time, he enjoyed singing with Ireland's Own and the Sing-along Singers, gardening, oil painting, visiting Chatham and Sandwich and above all, spending time with his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his children; Capt. Michael B. Stanton, USN (Ret.) of Virginia, Dawn M. Boynton of Easton, Christopher L. Stanton of Brockton and Tamara J. Bourgeois, RN of Easthampton. He was the brother of the late Paul J. Stanton and Richard L. Stanton. He is also survived by his grandchildren Anthony A.J. Boynton, Meghan and Amelia Bourgeois. He is also survived by 3 nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rte 27) Stoughton on Monday, November 4, at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass in the Immaculate Conception Church, 193 Main St. Easton at 10:30 AM.
