Frederick H. DeCosta, Jr., 85, died Tuesday, April 17, 2018, at his home in Canton, after a long period of failing health. He was the husband of 67 years of Mary T. (Smith) DeCosta. Born and raised in Stoughton, he was educated in Stoughton Schools. He was a Veteran of the US Air Force. Mr. DeCosta was a longtime resident of Stoughton before moving to Canton over 20 years ago. He worked as a home builder in the area for many years. He also worked at US Art in Randolph and Baker Brothers in Stoughton. In his free time, he enjoyed woodworking in his workshop and spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two daughters, Donna M. Zepf and her husband Robert of Canton and Valerie DeCosta of VA. He was the father of the late Frederick H. DeCosta III. Mr. DeCosta was the brother of Sandra Biffin of Brockton, Robert DeCosta of NY and the late Constance Gill and Nancy Estey. He is also survived by his daughter in law Lori DeCosta of Danvers, 8 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service will be offered in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at 10 AM. Visiting Hours Friday from 5-8 PM. Interment will take place at Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton. Donations in Fred's memory may be made to the Good Shepherd Hospice, 90 Wells Ave., Newton, MA 024359.
