Fraser William McBride, age 36, passed away peacefully after a valiant and courageous battle with cancer, on July 13, 2024 with his wife Fionna (Joyce) McBride by his side. Born in Irvine, Ayrshire, Scotland, he was the son to Margaret McBride and the late William McBride, and the loving brother of Fiona McBride. Raised and educated in Kilmarnock, he attended Paisley University where he received his Bachelor of Science, specializing in Media Technology. Fraser's love of music led to him gaining fame as a local rockstar playing in bands such as Amsterdam, One Last Secret, 3 Hits, and the mighty Symptoms. He was truly a natural, playing a variety of instruments and taking over vocals with his beautiful singing voice. This past February, Fraser and the members of the Symptoms recorded at the infamous Abbey Road Studios in London. Anything music related was near and dear to Fraser’s heart and a proud aspect of his life.
Fraser worked for Scottish Power before transferring to the U.S. sister company Avangrid. He was known for his creative talent and brilliant mind within the company. He came to the U.S. and began making a life for himself away from home. It was here where he met the love of his life Fionna, starting a beautiful family with endless love, memories and dreams. His devotion as a husband, father, son, brother and best friend to countless others, shined through his heart on a daily basis. He loved going on adventures with Fionna and traveling to anywhere he could, making memories together as a family. Fraser was truly one of a kind, with an eternal and unconditional warmth for others. His gentle heart and his beautiful soul will be greatly missed by those who had the honor of knowing him in this life.
In addition to his devoted wife Fionna, Fraser is survived by his son Mac Fraser McBride, and was preceded in death by his son Sullivan William McBride. He is also survived by his mother Margaret McBride, his sister Fiona McBride, his mother-in-law Cathy Sullivan Joyce and sister-in-law Catriona Joyce. Fraser leaves behind many other family members, many close friends, bandmates and co-workers.
Visitation will be held at Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park Street (Rt.27) Stoughton, on Thursday July 25th from 4-7 PM. A Graveside Service will be held the next day, Friday July 26th at 10 AM, at Blue Hill Cemetery, 700 West Street, Braintree, MA 02184. In lieu of flowers, donations in Fraser’s memory may be made to the Sullivan William McBride Fund, c/o Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park Street, Stoughton, a fund that Fionna and Fraser created when their son Sullivan passed unexpectedly in 2022. Their selfless act of donating the funds that were given in memory of Sullivan, meant a lot to Fraser. Donations may also be made on behalf of Fraser to the Ulmann Cancer charity supporting young adults where his best friend Craig Paterson is running the NYC Marathon in his honor, at https://impact.ulmanfoundation.org/fundraiser/5443042.
