Frank A. Monteiro, Jr., 84, died Monday, May 26, 2014, at his home after a period of failing health. He was the husband of 61 years of Regina M. (Dias) Monteiro. Born in West Falmouth, he was raised and educated in Falmouth and attended Falmouth Schools. Mr. Monteiro was a World War II Veteran of the US Army. He was a resident of Stoughton since 2001, previously living in Dorchester for many years. Mr. Monteiro was a longtime employee of Madden Brothers Paving in Dorchester, retiring many years ago. He was a former member of the VFW in Mattapan. An avid sports fan, he enjoyed landscaping in his free time.
Mr. Monteiro was the father of Rosemarie Miranda of Weymouth, Donna M. Monteiro and the late Charlene Monteiro. He was the grandfather of Ronald L. Miranda, Regina Miranda, Frank Monteiro, Nannette Monteiro and Michele Monteiro. He was the great grandfather of Alicia, Veronica, Amanda, Karlos, Frank "Woogie", Andrea and Alycea. He was the brother of Margaret Gomes of New Bedford, Barbara Lopes of Dorchester, Evelyn Monteiro of Watertown, Laura Lewis of Norton, Marie Crowley of Canton and the late Minnie Gomes. He is also survived by several aunts and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Graveside services will be held in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Connery Ave, Bourne on Friday, May 30 at 10:15 AM. Visiting Hours will be held in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Thursday from 5-8 PM. Due to floral restrictions at the cemetery, the family has asked that donations in his memory may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675.
