Frank M. Hansler, 83, a longtime resident of Wareham and Stoughton, died Saturday at the Boston Medical Center in Boston. He was the husband of the late S. Olga (Perrone) Hansler. Born in Cranston, RI, he was raised and educated in Bridgewater and a graduate of Bridgewater Schools. Mr. Hansler was a Veteran of the US Army in WWII, earning the Purple Heart. He worked as a Postal Worker and Letter Carrier at the Stoughton Post Office from 1954 until his retirement in 1991. He was a member of the VFW and DAV in Stoughton and was very active in the National Association of Letter Carriers, where he was the President of Branch 1400 and the Vice President of the Massachusetts State Board. In his free time, he enjoyed attending senior activities in the Wareham area, including Bingo, playing cards, traveling to Foxwoods and spending time with his friends and family.
He is survived by his children, Frank W. Hansler of NH, Scott C. Hansler of Stoughton, Gina M. Ash and her husband Starrett of CT and Cynthia A. Jannarelli and her husband Paul of RI. He was the brother of Frances Paiva of ME and the late Bertha Chamberlain. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Tuesday, May 15, at 9:15 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton, at 10:15 AM. Visiting Hours Monday 5-8 PM. Donations in Frank's name may be made to St. Patrick's Charitable Fund, 82 High St., POB 271, Wareham, 02571. Burial will be at Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton.
