Francis E. "Frank" Powers, 68, died unexpectedly at the Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton on Sunday, October 14. He was the husband of Patricia A. (Durgin) of 49 years. Born in Boston, he was raised in Dorchester and graduated from Dorchester High School, Class of 1957. He was a resident of Stoughton for over 40 years. He was an U.S. Navy Veteran from 1957-1959. Mr. Powers was a member of the Ironworkers Union, Local 7 in Boston for over 30 years and also the Electrical Workers Union, Local 103 in South Boston for several years. He recently retired. Mr. Powers was a member of the AMVETS in Stoughton and the Randolph Elks in Randolph.
In addition to his wife Patricia, he is survived by his children, Francis E. Powers, Jr. of NH, Thomas E. Powers of Stoughton, Patricia A. Davis of Middleboro and Joseph E. Powers of Randolph. He was predeceased by his son Robert F. Powers. He was the brother of Jeanne Finnigan of Milton. Mr. Powers is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Thursday, October 18 at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10:30 AM. Visiting Hours Wednesday 4-8 PM. Donations in Frank's memory may be made to Joslin Diabetes Center, 1 Joslin Place, Boston, MA 02215 or Jon G. Price Memorial Fund for Head Injury Research, c/o Development Office at MGH, 165 Cambridge St., Suite 600, Boston, MA 02114. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton.
